i'm eva,

a film director and writer,

originating from Moscow, currently studying BA film production at the university for the creative arts in England.

in my work and life i am interested in how ordinary routines reveal emotional conflict, initimacy and fragility of socially promised truths. along with stories where conflict exists beneath ordinary humdrum and where silence carries as much weight as dialogue.

in my art i explore human relationships through restrained observation, moral ambiguity and day to day gestures. alongside narrative filmmaking, i work with photography and used to work a lot with drawing as parallel forms of visual research.

i also spend a significant part of my process writing, researching and analysing different art forms. every project of mine begins with notebooks, references and questions long before it reaches its medium

when i write i rarely begin with dialogue

most stories start as diagrams, emotional maps and handwritten notes that are scribbled against one another and then connect with tenths of arrows, highlights, mindmaps, etc.

with my experimental pieces i usually get a surge of inspiration from a song, or a feeling, or anything possible.

with that i simply take my hard drive, then scroll through my phone's photos and videos, choosing ones that either can make an interesting image/texture, or would fulfil the project emotionally.

i also tend to use a lot of text in my experimental pieces along with overlays to give it an extra layer of visual language without depending solely on the sound.
